Metal Finishing – Plating & Coating
Zinc-Nickel Plating
Substantially higher corrosion resistance than standard zinc; used on defense and aerospace fasteners and chassis parts.
Process
Alloyed electrolytic plating providing high adhesion and corrosion resistance on steel parts. Strong protection against red rust; suitable for hardened steels.
What it provides
- High wear resistance
- High corrosion resistance against fuel vapors
- High heat resistance
- Uniform coating thickness
Frequently asked questions
Why is zinc-nickel better than plain zinc?
The 12–15 % nickel alloy gives three to five times the salt-spray life of zinc at the same thickness and is galvanically closer to aluminium, which is why it replaces cadmium on aerospace and vehicle chassis fasteners.
Which specifications apply?
ASTM-B841 and AMS-2417, with clear or black passivation and an optional top sealer.
